From Croatia to Belgium — building a life around clay.
Hi, I’m Sandra – ceramic artist, pottery teacher, and founder of Sandra Clay Way.
Originally from Rijeka, Croatia, I now live and work in Oelegem, a small town just outside Antwerp, Belgium, together with my husband, our two children, and our apricot dwarf poodle, Rony.
Art has always been part of my life. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Art Pedagogy, but it was ceramics that truly captured my heart. What started as curiosity slowly became a passion, and eventually a way of life.
After moving to Belgium, I continued building my world around clay — first with a small pottery wheel and kiln at home, and later by creating my own studio: Sandra Clay Way.
Today, my studio is a place where people come to slow down, work with their hands, and reconnect with creativity through clay. I teach wheel throwing in small, personal groups, creating a calm and supportive environment for both beginners and more experienced students.
Alongside teaching, I create functional ceramics inspired by natural textures, soft imperfect forms, and the quiet Mediterranean feeling I grew up with. I love experimenting with glazes, exploring new techniques, and continuously learning more about the craft.
I speak Croatian, English, Dutch, and Italian, and my studio welcomes both local and international students.
Most days, you’ll find me in the studio — covered in clay, trimming pots, testing glazes, teaching workshops, or simply enjoying the process of creating.
MY VALUES

Handmade craftsmanship
Every piece is shaped by hand, embracing the small imperfections and textures that make handmade ceramics unique.

Functional beauty
I create ceramics meant to be used and lived with — pieces that bring beauty into everyday rituals such as coffee, cooking, and shared meals.

Food safe & made for everyday use
All functional pieces are created with carefully selected food-safe glazes, combining aesthetics with practicality.

Thoughtful making
I believe objects carry energy from the hands that made them. Each piece is created slowly, intentionally, and with attention to detail.
MY FAMILY – MY LITTLE PEACE OF HAVEN
